Standing on a podium in the full glare of the Dallas sunshine - and with all the living Presidents in front of him - Bill Clinton today lamented that George W. Bush had become a grandfather before him.
President Clinton, 66, speaking at the opening of the George W. ‘It’s odd because she is usually a near daily fixture there, but she’s been scarce lately.’Last year, her mother, ex-Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, 65, confessed to Harper’s Bazaar that she was desperate to become a grandmother, saying: ‘Well, no pressure, because I don’t want to be one of those kinds of mothers, But obviously, someday, I’d love it.’And when asked what sort of grandmother she would make, the politician – who was treated for a blood clot on the brain in December - replied: ‘Probably an unbearable one, the kind who is saying, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’ll take the child, I’ll do whatever you need to get done.’
A source told MailOnline that Chelsea had also been absent from her daily spinning sessions at New York’s Soul Cycle, saying: ‘I haven’t seen her for about the past six weeks.

In 2011, when her husband Bill was asked what he wanted to accomplish in the next decade while at high-flyers retreat Davos in Switzerland, he said: ‘I would like to have a happy wife, and she won’t be unless she’s a grandmother. It's something she wants more than she wanted to be president.’While speaking to Vogue, Chelsea said she wanted to start a family in a ‘couple of years’, admitting: ‘It’s certainly something that Marc and I talk a lot about. I always knew I was the center of my parents’ lives when I was growing up. And I am determined that our children feel the same way.'
